I have the dual range COM in this tractor. The problem that I have is that the tractor will not move with the shuttle lever in L. The snap ring is gone that holds the gear in place and when the lever is moved, the gear just moves back too far on the shaft for it to work. I have the motor off this tractor to replace the front and rear seals and would like to know the best (or only) way to fix this. Thanks for your time. Ronald

It's a rear split to repair. The new snap ring will need to be installed and the collar ahead of the snap ring is redesigned to come back over the snap ring to trap it so it cannot expand to pop out of the groove. They just made the collar a little thicker and cut a recess in the back to come back over the S ring. If you are dealing with a good Case dealer he would know and the parts should cross to the new design. The parts would be the same as the later 4-5-630 tractors. Its possible that the snap ring has damaged the seals between the range box and the 4 spd box. mEl
