611B Questions

Chuck left me with a pair of 611Bs to make a good one out of however most of the parts are there for both of them. One has the correct dry sleeve engine but the other has what appears to be a 430-530 type engine. Is this possibly a tractor that had the dealer replace the engine after it died? Does anyone have any other information on what kind of engine it is or why it was put in the tractor? I havent found any PNs on the block nor SN on the block yet. Both tractors still have their SN tags on the dash. One also has a really cool aftermarket ratchet parking brake on top of the transmission. I will try to get pictures at some point.

I've been looking for one of those hand brakes for a long time. Anyway, I think the 530 engine block is shorter than the 611B engine block.

Depending on how far I want to get into this project it MAY be able to be had. Do you know any more info about them? Who made them?

Also, the better of the two tractors has power adjust rims which are neat but I don't have a big need for them. If anyone has a burning desire for them on theirs I would be willing to swap. They have been
loaded and have some rust but look to be nice and sound.

The first hand brake lever I saw was on a 411B I owned many years ago. This one had a J.E. Ingles Mineral Point, WI. sticker on it. The only thing I remember about J.E. Ingles was that he was a Chevrolet dealer in that town. I did see one on another 411B that had one on it, but didn't have a sticker on it like mine did. I thought these were put on Case-O-Matic tractors as a safer way to lock the brakes on them. There's one thing you can not do with a Case-O-Matic tractor you can do with other tractors, and that is to shut off the engine with it still in gear to keep it from rolling away on a hill. I also had one of these levers on one of my big 400's, but I always thought the hand brake mechanism may have originally been on a 811B and put on the 411. The reason I like this brake lock set up is that I have trouble locking the brakes on these tractors. I don't have very much strength in my right leg and even less when I have to bend over to reach the brake lock lever. The hand lever is a lot better way for me to lock the brakes.

there was a wet sleeve replacement engine for that tractor. very few of them around i just rebuilt one of them.

it the same displacment as the dry sleeve engine. every thing but the block and sleeves are the same. from what i could find out is was only around for a couple years till the 188 gas came out. there are no sleeves avalible. I bored the the wet sleeves and put a dry sleeve in them
