Anyone have one? My neighbor wants to update one of his tractors this tax year. He is retired farmer who still kept 65 acres to play with. He plants it in corn on corn so likes to moldboard it. Has a 4455 JD and wants to trade for a 6130 fwa. The dealer that has the trade says he won't pull his 5_18 plow with a 6130. This is s. Mn. black gumbo soil. What do you think?

The 6130 is 130 engine horsepower so that would be less drawbar horsepower than his 4455. If he weights it properly, the MFWD will give him better traction but I think he will struggle power wise.

One would think it would handle 5-16 but it won't handle it very well. Tried 5-16 with a 6135E, which is close to the same engine, in heavy Leseuer County, MN ground and it just didn't have the torque. Dropped a bottom and did very well.

6130 is gonna have a little 4.5 engine. 4455 has a 7.6 engine. Can't find specs for a 6130 specifically but a 6230 has about 95 hp. 4455 is gonna do circles around the 6130.

Do you mean a 6130M?

The 4455 has about 30HP at the drawbar and 2 tons on the 6130M. FWA makes up for some of that but not all. Worst case he can drop a bottom on the plow and run 4-18's. It won't take him that much longer to plow really.

You sure this guy is growing corn on corn? Maybe a little cannabis on cannabis to be able to afford to trade for a new tractor on 65 acres? LOL
