6140 water pump seal

The water pump gave up the ghost on the 6140 and after pricing the rebuilt ones online (including this site) and online, I decided to try and rebuild the old one. It is all good and ready to go but for the seal. I need to find a seal. I have scoured the internet and if I want 1000 or more I can import the seals from china. If not I am SOL. Agco can't help as the seal isn't listed separately. I have no cross reference number to use with any site that lists several mechanical seals for AC. None of the standard Pac type seals from McMaster Carr or MSC will fit. Does anyone know of a site that carries pac seals in metric sizes?

Also why is it when you do a search online, and it says there are 900,000 sites to match your search criteria, that the top three on every page are the same. If you looked at their site on page one and they didn't have what you wanted, why the snot would you look at their site again on page 2, 3 or 35? Really stupid marketing there.
Sorry if this turns into a rant

Hi DR you might check CR (Chicago Rawhide) which I think is now SKF you should mic the shaft, seal thickness and outer diameter. They have metric and ich sizes. if you can get those I have a catalog at work I can try to help you. CT

Thanks CT. The outside of the cup part is 30 mm, the shaft it was on was 5/8 inch. I have gone to a 1/2 inch shaft to accept a different bearing but, that wouldn't matter in this type of seal as nothing really touches the shaft. I will have to measure the thickness to see what it is. On the mechanical seals the spring movement gives it a working thickness. I think is to allow it to seal as it wears over time. The other end of the seal (the ceramic end, is 22 or 23mm. I haven't tried to pull that end out of the impeller as it looks in real good shape and I didn't think I could get it out with out damaging it.

Yep, tried MSC and Mcmaster Carr and Grainger. They have a few of the pac style mechanical seals but, only in english sizes and none that will fit my application. I can modify the case or impeller a bit but, there are limits to haw much material I can remove and still leave enough to support the parts.

The Massey seal part no. for a tractor with the same engine (1040) is 3280164M1.
On this site (ytmag) it shows the same water pump fitting all 3 tractors.

Oops, that's a pump seal let's regroup still no problem sounds like a type 1 John Crane and probably metric. OD 30mm ok might be tough if shaft has been changed to inch size usually 1mm = .0394" so that will be an o-ring fit.
