Some diesels were hard on SN & Model numbers because they were under the edge of the battery. They are located on the flat spot on the bell housing behind the starter. The model will read 41205 if you have a 4000 all purpose with a sinble speed PTO. The SN will be right below it.

Congrats. I have three 4000s of that vintage. All are SOS. Two are diesels. One diesel is a 41105, row crop model.

my number reads 33396.There may be another number in front of this but I can't read it.Also are you familiar with the pull out type of PTO?

Those numbers are the serial numbers. On a line above them should the the model numbers. Acid may have taken the toll.

Mo John, that S/N would belong to a '63 model, probably a fairly late '63.

Not sure what you mean by pull out type PTO. Are you referring to the PTO control on the right dash? If so, then yes I'm familiar with it. What is your question?
