620 Clutch Driver

The clutch was pretty sloppy in my 620 so I pulled it apart and found the clutch driver had been shimed to the crankshaft so I picked up an aftermarket one, I slipped the new one on the crankshaft and it only lacks about 3/16 being flush with the end of the crankshft before tightening it up.
Question: How far can the driver go on the crankshaft before the inner clutch facing won't release between the driver and pulley.

I did send the clutch fork shaft and housing to the machine shop to build up the shaft and bush the housing, also rework the pulley brake pin etc.

3/16 should be plenty. The 620's clutchs are
touchy. Not know if yours is a Black dash model
because thats when they changed to the same
parts the 630 has. I know with my personal
tractor the inside disc gets very little use
in mine, so I run two 1/2 worn one's on the
inside position. I think / Know my pully is cut
too deep. Adjusting it is very touchy....

If the clutch driver and crank are in good shape the driver should tighten up before its flush with the crank. I've heard the driver should stick out past the crank about the thickness of a quarter as a good rule of thumb to go by.
