I take it you meant a 6 volt coil for use with an external ballast resistor (on 12 volt tractors) right ?

Thats fairly common on different tractor brands including Deere that used a 6 volt coil on a 12 volt tractor with the ballast by pass while starting feature to improve cold weather starting

Have you tried NAPA ?? or Tractor Supply ?? or Brillman as mentioned below ?? Mother Deere of course but likely at a PREMIUM price grrrrrrrr

FYI A 6 volt coil has an internal LV Primary winding resistance of around 1.5 or so + or - ohms

A coil marked 6 volts will say nothing about a resistor. It should be about 1 1/2 ohms across the + and - terminals.

You might try to find a 12 volt external resistor required coil. Should be same as 6 volt and have 1 1/2 ohms across + and -.

A direct 12 volt coil will have about 3 ohms and be labeled no external resistor required
 
FYI when shopping around a coil labeled 12 Volts for use with external resistor is in reality a 6 volt coil and indeed needs the external series voltage dropping (12 to 6) ballast resistor LIKE IT SAYS or it will overheat

A full true 12 Volt coil NO BALLAST REQUIRED is just what it says and has a LV primary resistance around 3 ohms + or -

Generally a 6 volt coil is ONLY labeled 6 Volts and as I posted has a LV primary resistance of around 1.5 Ohms + or -

A 12 volt 620 uses a 6 volt coil PLUS the external series voltage dropping (12 to 6) ballast resistor

In addition to TSC or NAPA or Brillman even Amazon or E Bay has 6 volt coils !!!

They do not have 6 volt coils for use with external resistor. I did find one at Rock Auto. For a 1950 Chevy truck.
 
From what I see looking at the 3 different 1950 Chevrolet truck coils at Rock Auto, they are 6 volt coils, wound for a 6 volt system, with no resistor - external or internal when used on a 6 volt system. It appears they have a misprint showing one as 12 volt (but it crosses to the same 6 volt coil numbers as the other two shown as 6 volt). At least one of them says something to the affect of it is 6 volt and fits most applications where an external resistor or resistance wire is part of the vehicle harness, which would be a 12 volt system application.

John T and several others have tried to explain to you when a 6 volt coil is used on a 12 volt system it needs an external resistor. If you want to eliminate the resistor in a 12 volt system, you need a 12 volt coil wound to have the correct resistance for 12 volt use. If you run a 6 volt coil on 12 volts with no resistor, as it sounds like you are trying to do, the point life will very likely be shortened, as well as heating the coil.
