Working on my 620. PTO issue. PTO runs just fine once Hydraulic pump is engaged, and yes it runs full speed, that is the problem. I cannot get the pedal to move up or down. Is it possible previous owner tightened it so tight to try to get it to stop the slow roll that it is overtight now and wont disengage? Trying to figure out what Im getting into before surgery as Ive heard these are expensive to rebuild, thanks for any wisdom.

If you're referring to the pedal by the clutch that has two pedals, when you push the top one, the pto engages and when you push the bottom it disengages the pto. Takes some force to engage or disengage. The small lever by the shift quadrant needs to be to the left for the pto to engage with the above pedal and if to the right the pto won't engage. The tractor needs to be off to move it to the left as it has to mesh gears. The pto speed only varies with the engine rpm.

Is the pedal down (disengaged) and the PTO is still turning?? If so the PTO brake needs to be adjusted or the brake is shot or there's gear oil in the PTO housing which can contribute to the brake not working. Depending on what serial number 620 you have the PTO brake is set up a little differently.

Try using a prybar to get the pedal to move. Might need a little persuasion to move. As already mentioned they take a little force to move even when working properly.

No way it will move and Im not a small guy. the first response almost made it sound as if the square headed stub in neutral wont allow the pedal to move? Ill check that tonight

First I'd try disconnecting the linkage and see of the pedal itself is stuck or if it's something internal. If it's internally stuck, next I'd try a few light taps with a hammer back and forth on the clutch fork shaft coming out to the housing.

Yes I’ve tried disconnecting the pedal it moves freely I just didn’t want to go crazy on the linkage thinking I’d break something
