63 ford 4000 backhoe hydrolics problems still

I have had most of the cyclinders rebuilt and the pump and it still wont lift a bucket of dirt,there is a valve at the end of the controls that is ajustable that was worn and i fixed that. I have been looking for a repair manual with no luck, can anyone out there help me out? The locksmith

There is probably a hydraulic relief valve in the backhoe control valve that is set too low or (possibly AND) in the FEL control valve.

You should be set to about 1800-2000 psi. Depends on the model of tractor / front end loader / backhoe. I would probably set both to 2000 (if they are adjustable). If they are not adjustable, you will need to replace them. Failing replacement parts, you would have to buy a whole new control valve (for big $$). I would try to adapt a relief valve before buying a new valve!

I dont know what pressure my bachhoe has, It doesnt have a gauge on it.I am pretty sure iy has enough because when it wont work anymore the front end loader works fine. Thanks for asking, Ed Miller

Sounds like something leaking internally in the control valve. Have you replaced all of the o-rings in there?

um.. that's why you need a pressure gauge to see what the pressure is in the ckt that ain't working.

gauges are cheap.. less than 10$ for a liquid filled 0-3000 psi gauge.

get a service manual for the basic machine.. they are widely available.. that's a common machine.

T into the ckt you are trying to test... check when pressurized / under load.
