Hey folks. I have a 63 JD 1010RU. It has a loader that is currently unresponsive. My brother in law had this tractor before me and thinks that he accidentally spun the hydraulic pump backwards by dropping his 3 pt wood splitter on top of his wood pile. He thinks the pump is toast. I'm a novice with these older tractors. I'm curious what kind of diagnostics I would need to do to find out if the pump is indeed bad.
Also does anyone have any insight on removing the pump and working on them? Could it possibly be rebuilt? Could I just run the tractor without that pump to say pull a trailer? Also has anyone by chance run a PTO driven Hydraulic pump and would one of those work on a rig like this?
Thanks and I look forward to chatting with you guys about these awesome old tractors.
