630 carb advice

Need to get into the carb to clean the seat and needle. I've been pulling the carb but was wondering if I could do the work in place. The biggest worry is not having the carb sitting on a work bench so as not to lose parts.

John Deere 630 carburetor? Looking at only needle and seat, drain the bowl of gas, bowl nut off, bowl off, pull hinge pin on float, float out, needle out, can unscrew seat!

I'd be more worried about pulling carb apart on tractor and having parts and pieces bouncing off the valve cover and onto who knows where!
