630 Deisel Triple Range Inoperative PTO

Hello everyone,
I've been looking for a 50 to 60 HP tractor. I like the triple range design having previously owned a 430 Triple range with the 188D. I found a 630D; (owner has 10 tractors, says it's time to thin the herd) and would sell his. It hasn't been run for a few years. That doesn't concern me as fresh fuel, with a new filter and new battery should go a long way to starting it.
Owner states it needs PTO repair. I haven't seen it yet but from reading past posts of PTO issues this may be as simple as an adjustment. I'm going to see it next week. Any checks I can perform on the PTO issue with tractor running or not running? appreciate your replies.

Yes, post on the case forum. I'm not expert on those, but believe it should have the independent pto. That entire unit comes off the back and can be easily rebuilt. I am not real familiar with the 630 but think they were all case-o-matic which is why it would have independent pto. I also think they only came with 8spd transmission then. But not real sure on those things.

Yes, that triple range was nice. We also had a 430 with it. Wish the heck I had never parted with it, but it was worn out.
Hi Tim, Theey were good tractors. We bought ours used. Needed a little TLC nothing serious, a starter & generator rebuild, a new ignition switch, a new glo plug and new batteries and a block heater to finish things out. It started , blew snow through several winters. regarding your comment " but it was worn out". I smiled and thought "now how did that happen"; a great testimony to a durable machine that kept on ticking
