trying to pull head on 630. I have 6 nuts on head off as well as intake and exhuast manifolds and lower water pipe. No reason it cant pop off like cap on beer bottle. Had a bottle jack pushing on crank case and head, pounded chisle between block and head at the same time, had some heat on gasket area and no luck. Any ideas on getting it off without breaking it or using C4?

There are TEN!!!!!!!!!! headnuts on a 630. If something doesn't come apart like one thinks it should, maybe look for a reason before using a bottle jack and tearing something up.

As stated earlier, there's 10 head studs/nuts.

You'll need to apply the same logic (remove all the bolts) when removing the block too. There's a couple underneath that go thru the frame.

First time pulling an engine apart... Should not need to pull block. The intake manifold is rotted and falling apart I need to take the head off to make sure none fell or got sucked into a cylinder. Was late last night and I didnt look for more head nuts Im sure they will be show now. No preasure from a jack just tried to pop it loose when it did not go I knew there was something eles but my pillow was calling me....

Maybe you shouldn"t touch it?? This could be
a real collector tractor, the Only One ever
built with 6 cylinder head bolt...

Get a Book, look at a Picture & Look Closer....

Before you re-install it, look real close at the manifold side and if the Exhaust Port gasket areas are burned much, have that side Machined Flat..!!

.030" off the head (Head-Gasket Side) didn't hurt either..!

Ron..

i wonder about guys like you husker . you can"t get a head off a 630 and you are trying to tell other people how to fix there tractors you can:t even get the decals right on the one tractor you did

Some questions don't need to be asked. Just recently sold a JD770 and gentleman showed back up with anxiety asking if there was anything wrong with the PTO couldn't get it in gear without grinding. He initially failed to mention he had been working on clutch adjustment. Had it adjusted where the two stage, second stage wouldn't release...duh..some folks need to be careful working or messing with tractors...

Boy somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. If we all knew everything we wouldn't have to ask nothing. Then wouldn't need this site. The very best have problems with decals.

KENT I THINK YOU BETTER PAY CLOSER ATTENTION TO WHOM YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. THE GUY WITH THE HEAD PROBLEM IS NOT ME. SEE THE DIFFERENCE? 44A ? HUSKER44A? . I DONT HAVE A 630 NOR DO I HAVE A REASON TO OWN A 630. AS FOR THE DECALS. I WAS TOLD BY A SALVAGE GUY THATS BEEN IN THE BUSINESS A LONG TIME THAT THEY WERE CORRECT. I WILL CHANGE THEM LATER .

You didn't read through the parts list and service manual before starting the job?
You tried to beat a cold chisel between the head and block?
I suppose you are due some credit for asking here instead of looking for a larger hammer.

Kent...I probaly am not as advanced in life as many people on here. But, I have grown up with the farming life just like you. I'm not saying your "old" but you do have a lot more experiance with this older equipement then I do. I will admit it. Then again common sence goes a long ways. As for you to tell me that I don't have the knowledge to tell people my experience is BS. You don't know who I am nor do I care to know you personelly. I give my honest answers or ideas from my past experience on this forum. I'm not trying to make anybody mad by all means. If I know what works from my past experiance I will let anybody know. Whether or not you like it.....or anybody else. Also, IF I do not know I will NOT post...Have a NICE DAY..
