I am looking at a JD 630 gas, online, and wondering what a rough value would be?

Running, no fenders, one rockshaft arm, narrow front, and it needs work (what wouldn’t). The tin looks good and it is single family owned.

I know these can be anyone’s guess but I am wondering if you guys have any ideas of fair market value. I am around NW IA.

Thanks,
Matt

Don't see many for under 3,000 dollars even if they do not run. I saw one that was fairly rough, loose flywheel and bare bones at auction several years ago. It sold for 2,900 dollars. It is a tractor I want fairly bad but for the time being it is going to have to wait. I'll find cheaper tractors that I desire in the near term.

New rear tires can cost $600 or more each by the time you get them installed, so tire condition and paint condition will swing the price a lot. What type of work does it need, an engine overhaul and transmission work?

There's a non running 630 single front
wheel, 3 point no top link, tire look
ok all holding air. on big iron 10
days left on auction. It's at $2050
right now. If I remember right it got
to that price pretty quick. Around my
area $2500 will buy non runners and
$4000 to $6000 for running depending
on condition.

Mostly minor work, the biggest thing I know of is the exhaust manifold gaskets are leaking.

The rear tires have plenty of tread, but the amount of dry rot is unknown yet, but I am told there is some cracking visible.

I have not actually seen it, other than pictures, but I have talked to the guy. It sounds like a good running tractor, with mostly minor work to get it to a usable condition.

Around here based on your description you can expect to pay 3,000-3,500 dollars. Yes, the price of two cylinders have fallen off quite a bit but that is for the more common models. The 30 series still command good money.

Well, a few..not many..

Is the Power Steering operating nicely..? You MUST drive it and make some fairly quick turns to know..

Is the power steering leaking.?

Check the transmission and Engine oil levels..if the rt Main crankshaft seal is leaking, that oil will go to the transmission..

The PTO Clutch really should be operated with a good load on it to see if it slips..

The oil in the PTO gearbox is 10WT...IF the seal behind the PTO is leaking, there will be 90 Wt gear oil in it and that will ruin the friction plates in that PTO Clutch..

If you do not want to pull the Manifold, I use a product I get at "Auto-Zone".. it is a small 3 oz container on card-stock called "ThermoSteel"..For High Heat Manifold
repair, etc.
Made by Cargo advertized to stand 2,400 Degree temps..
It feels similar to Valve Grinding Compound when you apply it.
To apply it, CLEAN the area with Parts cle3aner and use a brush to get as much off as possible..
Apply like putty, crowd it into the gap as well as you can and Let it Set for a day ( it says 3-4hours).. then start the engine and let the repair heat up while idling the engine..
In just a few minutes this stuff Hardens Hard as Flint... it Will stay in and would stop erosion of the surface until repairs can be made..(probably Mill the Head/intake/exhaust surfaces).
Can be used to repair Cast Iron and Steel.
This can come in handy and is not expensive..
I have not had to re-do this repair..this is a water based product CarGo Chemical Corp
