638 new holland round bale stringer

i have a new holland 638 round baler. i am looking for the control box that mounts to the tractor that strings the bale. i have priced them out new at 2 different places and both said $680.00 for a brand new one with the wiring harness. is there anywhere i can get one cheaper? that seemed like a lot of money for such a simple part. new or used is fine. i just need a second one to go on another tractor. thanks!

I think you are getting the control box for the autowrap and the bale command confused. The bale command box, that controls twine AND net is around that price. The autowrap box should/was much cheaper.

Part # 858911 is the complete control for the 638's manally controlled electric tie system. cody has the price right, and the 638 doesn't use either Autowrap or Bale command to apply twine. I wish I could help with a less costly alternative.

Two of my friends have the same round balers(Hesston 5500 I think). Anyway They can switch tractors although the 1st guy has his wired differently to a switch that reverses the polarity. The switch goes one way to wrap to the right and the other way to bring the arm back and tie. It looks like a toggle sw with up and down with neutral center. They have 2 pigtails. The one switch came off of a lawn mower with electric height adjustment.
