641 battery

What is the correct 12 volt battery for a 1958 641. My battery hold down measures 9 3/16 l x 7 1/2 wide .

I use a group 35 battery in my 641 & 960. A 35 will fit in both battery trays well in my opinion. However, the dimensions you have provided DO NOT fit a Group 35 battery. Below, I have provided a

My 640 I use a group 34 12v take a tape measure, it fits in mine, be aware there are different height batteries.

what battery hold down do you use with this battery ?

35, the post are near the edge of the O.D. of the battery so you may have to clearance the hold down around the terminals.

25 fits well.

Is it a gas or diesel? The gassers were originally 6v and the diesels were 12v. I'm pretty sure that the battery trays are different between them. The parts drawings list one tray for the 6volt battery, one for the 12 volt battery and a third one listed as "used to convert between 6v and 21v". They don't have the measurements listed for any of them, but they are all different part numbers.
