I've got two questions concerning my 641 (gasoline).

-First, anyone know of a place to find NOS parts to replace the level link for the right hand lift arm; crank works but threads on mine are stripped out.

-Second, will this tractor spin a 6' brush mower without overloading the tractor in general. I've always used a 5' on my 2N but would like a slightly larger mower if possible.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Gary

As for the cut, it very obviously depends on the growth that you are cutting! If thin & short, not dense, it could pull 10 or 12 foot.

My experience is to stay with a 5 foot.
The 6 foot mowers are heavy and if 3 point mounted, they cause the front end to get very light.
I added weights to the inside of my front rims.
I also had problems keeping the engine cool when I run a 6 foot on my 1964 4000.

If you look at the salvage section on this website I’d think you could find one. That particular part is used on several tractors.

Regarding the 6’ mower, we run a 6’ on our 641 with no problems. Sometimes you might need to slow down, lift it up a bit, or take a partial cut. But you’ll really like being able to cut closer to things on the side, and having a wider cut in lighter material. Use anti-sway bars to keep the mower from swinging a bunch.

I had a 641 for several years and mirror Steve's comments on the bush hog. The leveling box is available online and from this site I believe.

You will not like using a 6' shredder on a 600, I have to take 1/2 swaths when cutting tall/thick weeds with a Jubilee and it runs screaming hot while doing it. I'd stick with 5' or get an 860/1 tractor, live pto and more horsepower makes for a fantastic 6' shredding tractor.

I have a 6' on my 681 diesel, great for open areas. But in the forest- the old 5' is more maneuverable in tight places. Yes it (6') does lighten the front!!

Hadn't considered the possibility of overheating. Good info. gentlemen. Thanks to all for your input.

I’ve mowed for nearly 50 years with a 641 and a 6 foot brush mower. Never has it overheated from the load. Yes, it will get hot when the radiator gets plugged with a bunch of debris… But it’s not load related. Watch the gauge. When it gets hot, stop, clean out the radiator, and continue. If the cooling system is operating correctly, it cools down quickly. The tractor/cooling system is designed to work at a load that the engine produces.

Exactly.
