641D Injection Pump Timing and Removal

I am removing the injection pump, and per AwTX's instructions plus help from the manual, i believe that I have this pump "in time", but wanted to post pictures to make sure I have concurrence before I pull the pump off the tractor.

As long as the lines in the timing window are aligned when i put the spare pump on there, it should be correct? This ensures that the parts pump is not 180* off?

You are "In Time". The flywheel is on 23* BTC and your pump timing marks are aligned. Pull the pump out!
Also, I see that you have a RoosaMaster DBGVCC429-1AJ pump. The 4 means 4 cylinder and the 29 means that the plungers are .290" diameter. That is the same as both of my 172 cu in pumps.

Great! I'll swap them out tonight and we'll see what happens. Still not sure if I should leave the "hooked fitting" out when i connect the return line back. I might, because i know there is no way for fuel to pass thru that and back to the tank.

Fingers crossed for luck on that parts pump!

Either leave the fitting out or replace it with one that is open all the way through. Your brass elbow may not have the same male thread as the female thread in the pump cover.

I may be the one that is confused here, but.......it sure sounds to me (reading both his recent threads) like he has a 144 engine that he is about to install a 172 pump on. Am I wrong?

That's what it sounds like to me- he has 2 144 engines and both of them have 172 pumps. The Ford parts catalog definitely shows 2 different pumps for the 144 and 172. I suppose putting a 172 pump on a 144 would be the equivalent of "turning up the pump". I would certainly talk to a pump man about the consequences of using a 172 pump on a 144.

Here is the pump from my parts tractor that I am going to install. Both tractors have 144 blocks. The numbers are not so legible on this replacement pump...but here are pictures.

The "Bad Pump" currently on my tractor which is shown in the pics at the top of this post, is part number b9nn-9a543-A which is listed in the IT Manual as being correct for the 144. Its the blue pump from my parts number that i was questioning. But it was on a .144 engine on my parts tractor...it just has a different part number from what i can see.

I'll put it on there and see what happens. If i don't get any fuel to pump out of the injector lines into the engine, its irrelavent and I'll have to get somebody to rebuild my original pump.

The pump on my 861D has that fuel line running from the main body up to the inlet line like your blue pump. My pump has a completely different advance mechanism than your blue pump. My parts pump has the same advance mechanism as your blue pump but it does not have that extra fuel line. It just has a cover that is exactly like the timing cover attached under the 2 screws.
