656 Farmall

Disc mower, no problem. Discbine, it would work it pretty good, but could still make a go of it I think. I have used my 686 on my 10ft discbine, and it worked it pretty hard, but got the hay mowed.

a good gasser will handle a 9 foot discbine, up to 3rd gear in grass. Fuel consumption will be max, however. Came out way better on acres cut in a day compared to the old 230 self propelled windrower, so we don't mind.
therefore, Diesel should handle it and will fare much better on fuel consumption. Don't run out of fuel under load and don't shut down without a cool down period for the engine.

It will handle it. If you don"t have front weighs you will need some on the front. Five or six hundred lbs won"t hurt on the front of a 656 with a 9 ft mower. HP you will be alright but if you are on hilly ground and heavy grass hay it will give it a good work out.
