A few weeks ago I posted about my 656 Hydro suddenly lacking drive when under a load or going up a steep hill. I didnt have the time to really look into it and frankly was afraid of what i might find so just parked it and havent used it. Last night I decided to get it out and see if I could diagnose it a little bit anyways. I put the bush hog on it to also test the PTO and tried to mow a path up and down the hill. Initially it seemed to work fine but I noticed oil on the left hand side around the starter area where none had been before. After it heated up some it started to act up again and came almost to a stop on a steep section. At the same time I noticed a mist of oil coming out below the dash around the battery.
My thoughts now are maybe its just a line that is cracked or something in there that leaks primarily when under high pressure when under a load and not the hydro itself that is going bad. Does this sound like a possible scenario? Didnt have time last night to look much further. It has a cab on it and access is difficult. Will pull the battery out next and see what I can see, maybe tonight.
