Hi all, looking at a 656 utility gas/gear drive, supposed to have hydraulic issues - specifics unknown, engine is loose, but not running, needs a radiator, but, very nice 16.9x30 rear tires, which alone are almost worth the asking price of the tractor, and 3 pt. hitch. Does this tractor need to be split to work on the hyd. pumps? Any other horror stories that come to mind?

Hydraulic pumps are on the side of the mainframe of the tractor and easy to get to. Great tractor if you can get it bought and fixed.

Unless the clutch spline stripped out of the rear of the pressure plate. I believe that is what drives the hydraulic pump and the the pto. Easy enough to see-just look up thru the inspection cover. Mark.
