656 Utility

My neighbor has a 656 gas utility with a Westendorf loader and it's about the handiest loader tractor on this earth, in my humble opinion. LOL Jim

The high clearance utility was very popular as it made a normal height tractor. Cousin still has grandpa's standard shift uncle had a hydro. You kinda sat down between the wheels. Good riding handy tractor.

Yes they made quite a few.The hydro was the most miserable loader tractor built if you used it in hot weather.Neighbor bought a real sharp one and loved it until they started chopping haylage. He spent two days packing a trench silo in 100 degree high humidity weather, back and forth all day long. The more you used it the hotter the hyd. got and you set right on the transmission. He felt like he was the main course at a summer cook out.Traded it for a Deere 4020 and loader with a roll-guard and roof.LOL Another neighbor had a 656 utility that was his main tractor. The engine as so wore out that you thought it had dual exhaust. When chopping silage he tied a gallon oil jug under the blowby tube and dumped it back into the engine every morning.I do not think he ever changed oil but just added some. That must have been a good engine as he ran it like that untill he quit farming.
