656 weak hydraulics

The next problem I have with the 656 is that I have weak hydraulics. I have to rev up the engine to get it to pick up a disk or when I try to put a mower on the back of the 3 point it will not pick it up. You have to rev up the engine all the way to get it to pick it up just a couple of inches off the ground. Even played with my draft control and that didn't help. Think I have a weak pump?

Well you can guess at all sorts of do it have , but till ya do a flow rate on pump and system your guessing . You can put a gauge on one side of a remote and see what the pressure is . But that does not tell you your gallons per min. at the rated pressure . You can replace the pump and still have something by passen . . Just my two cents worth .

Do the simple things first,change hyd. filter if you already havent. Other wise sounds like week pump. Get a pressure gauge and check pressure,should be around 1500 lbs.

Just checked it and it reads 2000psi

In your previous post you said you added 15 gal. of hytran, the 656 hydro takes 19-20 gal. Level needs to be checked with engine running.
Have you added any more fluid?
Did it lift properly before you did the check valve work?

No i haven't added any more because it says on the stick it's full and even before I did the work on it they were weak

and at what RPM did you get this?? If you have that kind of pressure at the remotes then the three point should work unless you have something bypassen under the top cover . But you still do not know how many GPM you have .

I have a question, If you hold the steering wheel against the stop, either L or R, and the engine is running, and you pull the lever to raise the disk or mower do you find that you things work better?

How big is the cylinder on the disc. If it is only a 2inch or something small like that it might not lift it. Cylinder will be to small at that size to last on that job also. You can do a flow test by running oil into a pail to measure it. With it over filled about 5 gallon you can then time how long it takes to fill the pail.
