66 Ford 4000 exhaust pipe problem

Hi All,

4 years ago i purchased a exhaust manifold for my 4000. Well, just got around to putting it on. I do not remember who i bought it from, but it was on ebay. All went well with the install, but needed a new pipe that goes on top of the manifold. Bought one last week and when i went to install it, the manifold opening is too small and it does not work. The pipe i bought seems to be the same size as the old one. so think this manifold i got is the one that is not the same as oem. It is a dark blue color. Anyone know of a pipe that has that flange on it that center pipe is a bit smaller ? I have tried to cut a few cut in the pipe to make it fit and i can get it in there but not far enough to get a clamp on it so it will stay on. Anyone have to deal with this or know of any other options.
Thanks in advance.
Dave

Hi Dave

Did one on a 3000 a few years ago and had the same problem you did. Took measurements and went to an exhaust shop. They made me up an adaptor that sat on the manifold and the exhaust then sat on top of that. The adaptor had a shroud that sat down on the manifold and made it a firm
fit. If you go this way make sure things lap the right way so water can't run down into the manifold.
