660 sputtering, time for a carb kit ?

Model 660

Had the 660 out today testing and adjusting a plow when she
started missing and sputtering. I had to pull the choke half out
to get home. Ain't checked fuel flow from tank yet, but I know
for a fact it's been at least a decade since I overhauled the
carb so I'm guessing that's the problem .It has a tsx580.

I would test he spark first then the fuel flow. Weak spark does odd thing plus it is better to test spark then gas not the other way around or well some times thing can get hot.

I expect you have a blockage in the jet or passage. Choking will not help flow to the carb very long only a few seconds.

You were right dmb. I first checked flow from tank to bowl,ok. Then I blew out carb where bowl bolts to and she's back to normal . Saved some money for now. I know I'm going to be doing a clutch soon anyway. Thanks
