Getting ready to pull the steering column. Pulled the nut and tried to use a puller on the wheel. It's a plastic steering wheel (yuk)and the plastic started to give way before the wheel would move. Any trick to this? Soaking in PB plaster now...........

Pulled an original off 850 yesterday without a puller. Tapped on end of shaft-nut still fully engaged, and pulled on the wheel. I got lucky and it broke free. Watch those threads when you're hitting on the shaft though! Option, make a plate something that you could put under the plastic part. Good luck

BB:

Use a good piece of hard brass and a 2 1/2 (or so) lb. hammer to solidly strike the end of the steering shaft while a helper applies upward force to the steering wheel.

Be sure to warn your helper that the wheel will likely pop off suddenly so that he does not fall off of the tractor when it does.
