6600 404 motor

My 6600 combine with 2900 hours is blowing a lot of oil out breath tube one gal hour. Started all of sudden. My thought is hole piston or broken ring. It does not smoke out muffler or seem to lack power. Question to fix or not

A strong chance there is a leak in the clean air side of the intake,allowing dirt to get into the engine, this will break top rings rather quickly...Darn it,,,check it over for a loose or cracked hose,,some times you can spray a bit of ether along the pipes and hoses to find it,,but the damage is already done..

Sounds unhealthy and spendy. If you decide to fix I recently bought a 7700 in great shape for parts on my 7720. If you decide to fix could give you a good deal on a nice turbo 404.
