My friend just bought one of these a week ago, he was mowing hay and was shifting the dual power down at the end of the field, and it quit moving...any thoughts or suggestions, we have a manual on the way.

Will it move with the DP in high? Does the PTO work? Do the hydraulics work? There are several possibilities that range from bad to worse...

Yea, that's not gonna buff out.....

Good tractors, but that mighta taken a bad one there.

Did it stop moving in any gear; is it lugging when you put it in gear but only with the DP in one position; was the hyd fluid low...

Hydraulics and the DP/tranny and the PTO are linked together, so any clues on how the pto & hyd are working will help.

It won't move in any gear, all the steering hydralics work pto works, you can shift if in any gear with out the clutch and it is full of oil. position on the hi, low does not make any difference at all, we checked the cable from the lever to transmission it is o.k.

What I would do at this point is find the dual power pressure supply line that runs from the main pump up to the DP valve on the right side of the transmission housing. Tee a 500 psi gauge into that line at the pump. Then fire dolly up and see what pressure she's got at 1100 rpm. There should be 160-180 psi there with warm oil though it may be higher with cold oil. If the pressure is slack then there is a leak in one of the clutches... and that means either of the two dual power or the PTO clutch. To narrow that down shift through the high/low of the DP and enagage/disengage the PTO. Wherever you get a consistent pressure low you have a leak. Also note that you will see a pressure dip at lower engine speeds when yoy make a shift or engage a clutch. This is due to the clutch piston's fill time but once the clutch is full the pressure should rise to the regulated pressure.... so keeping this in mind... if you do not see a pressure dip when you shift the DP at a low idle then you need to question why not. That could be the result of a valve problem or it could be the result of a stuck clutch piston... more like to be a valve problem.

If the pressures all check out fine and the DP appears to be shifting hdraulically then I would speculate that you've simply sheared the clutch disc/hub or an input shaft and you need to split it and change the clutch.
Let us know wht you find on the pressure checks first... please do the pressure checks and not be like another guy I know who split the tractor thinking it was the clutch, then the DP... only to find out the hydraulic pump shaft was sheared...

Thanks a million Rod, I will keep you guys informed of the situation, it will be a few days as I am going to try to combine wheat this week.
