6620 John Deere

Have a 6620 JD Combine that I have to replace both the flighting chains with the rubber paddles for the clean and return grain augers and was wondering if anyone has done this before and has any tips or advice on how to go about doing this! What I'm thinking is splitting them hooking new chain to them and pulling out the old while pulling in the new?

If I can offer a tip, make sure you check the condition of the drive sprockets for the chains to. If they are badly worn they will rapidly wear your new chains.

Robert, after you have renewed the chain and sprockets be sure to check the loading auger in the grain tank. If this auger is not in good condition you will have done your elevator for nothing. The loading auger is the most important auger on the combine. If this auger does not do it's job it will affect the whole combine. While you are in the upper sprocket area check this auger while you're there. Mike

Thanks everyone for you help, Dropped the drive chain on the return and the belt on the clean grain elevators ground off a link on the chain hooked the new chain to the old and pulled it right thru! worked out great! sprockets and augers looked good just the rubber flights were bad on chain.
Back in operation now!
Thanks Again Everyone.
