666 Hydro Problem

got a 666 Hydro Diesel, Trans. started to act funny when going forward, about mid speed the tractor just stops moving if you pull the stick back or push it forward it starts to move again, it DOES NOT do this in reverse, while moving you can apply the brake and if not careful stall the tractor, we took the lower pan off and changed the "O" rings on the Oriface discs but that did not help, we did notice both discs are a different diameter, we installed the larger one towards the front of the tractor because when we took the cam plate out both discs fell out so not sure where they went, I don't think its any thing major, could one of the actuators be bad? if so can they be removed without a whole lot of heartache? any help would be greatly appreciated as it is planting time and we would like to continue moving forward , Thanks again

Check The LH side of the hood. It is fiberglass and the holes wear out & let it shift. When it stops moving idle the engine back. Push on the lever to the inside of the tractor. If this is the problem it will take off right away. Usually you can loosen the hood bolts & crowd it in to take up for the wear. Could have some wear at the bottom of the lever also. Is a common problem with age & a lot of use.

Look on ebay and look for a troubleshooting manual for a 544/656 Best money you will ever spend. Eason

There is also an adjustment on the control spool, but, as mentioned, be sure the cowl is secure and adjusted so the handle doesn't move the spool through the range from neutral to full speed.
