hey guys new to the forum, i have a 67 424 since ive bought it its had a problem with idling and stalling, maybe 3 times ive used it in 2 years has it worked properly. usually it starts right up i let it warm up for maybe 5 minutes then start using it, i get about a half hour of use before it starts cughing and trying to die under load if i push the throttle all the way to low it will hold idle and i can limp it back, if i try to high idle it at all it just tries to stall. the other problem is if i park it for say 10 minutes on low idle to load the bucket up and then jump on and idle it up it does the same coughing skipping and stalls. it always starts right back up but only on low idle. i have a carb kit im doing that this weekend but i did pull carb apart and its clean inside, cap rotor points and condensor all look fairly new. any help is appreciated thank you

Would be worth cleaning the sediment bowl out. Might be a cheap fix. And my 2424 has an in-line filter just ahead of the carb - would be a good idea to change that out if you have one also.

Thanks for the reply, Where is it located? I have electric pump seems to be working don't see any crud in the tank and the gas is clear at carb, it the sediment bowl on tank or in line?

I feel your ignition is getting weak with heat. If it was a fuel issue it would have stopped running at all by now. Make sure the the point gap is OK. Replace the condenser, cheap. You can run a jumper from the battery to the coil to test the wires and the switch. Last, replace the coil. Good luck

The sediment bowl is number 18 on the diagram in the link. Also, if you clean your carb properly you will find the
screen in the elbow that screws in the carb for the fuel line to connect to. Is your gas tank cap vented and is the
venting open? It does kind of sound like your issue is ignition coil related.

i did notice that if i tap on the distributor it starts to run poorly and stall thought that was odd but ive never tapped on a distributor before either.
