Anyone know an tricks so ac belt will stop jumping off? Had rebuilt compressor with clutch assembly installed and now belt jumps off after running a while. It appears to be lined up with crank pulley. It has an idler that pushes against flat back of belt. Thanks,Jim

was and is a common problem. the long run and the compressor that pulls hard, then easy causes the belt to jump violently.

early models have no idler pully and had to be razor tight.. later models added a pully midway to help keep the belt jumping problem under controll..

I keep em severly tight. and dont run the compressor at mid rpms... only cycle it on when it tractor is at 1900 and then turn it off before I throttle down and come out of the field..

its cheesey but it works well. also painting the belt bright red so I can find it when I forget to do this helps..

If you want to fix it, get a compressor conversion kit and covert the compressor to a rotary compressor. otherewise keep it tight and buy only the goodyear severe duty belts.
