6700 no power

My 6700 tractor doesnt have good power it lugs down going down the highway pulling a balewagon I was going to check the pump timing it has the big piston pump simms not the little cav pump the book is not clear on it what degrees should it be on It has 5600 hours on it and do I check it with that needle at the back of the pump. Thanks

I just changed it on the last oil change I'll check it again I was hoping that maybe wear on everything maybe the timing may need bumping up a little

Lack of power with a diesel is almost always lack of fuel. How long since filter changes? What color is smoke when you "accelerate" how about when under load? Why should I have to do all the typing? I use only two fingers. Why can't you give info without being asked every question?

Hasn't been long since changed fuel filter
probably 50 hours ago the smoke is gray
colored I thought maybe the timing needs a
little adjustment maybe just wishful
thinking to get off that cheap may have to
be a pump rebuild in the making but I do
appreciate all the help

I suggest to check for good fuel flow from fuel tank to inj pump? Is fuel tank venting? If your tractor has fuel lift pump then check operation of the pump.

I asked about the two tanks because if it is like my 7700, it feeds from the bottom tank. If a line gets kinked or airlocked orwhatever it will affect fuel flow. I eliminated bottom tank as then was gravity feed to lift pump. Never had a problem again.
