6V Battery Recommendations?

5 years is rare.6 or 12 volt.Had one that had a 9 year warranty. It failed with a frozen cell at 8.5 years.Hydrometer predicted trouble in that cell for a long time.It was an Exide.Been buying batteries since 7 bucks could buy a new one.
Where you getting a 6 volt tractor battery for 7 dollars with 9 year warranty ??

36 coupe I have had this system on tractor for three years with no problems . It is set up to shut off when battery is charged. This system was set up by a dealer in Michigan that deals in alternators & starters in all makes in 6 volt,8 volt and 12volt.
What's the name of that dealer in michigan ??

Not only is 36 Coupe long gone but he was kicked off the site for being a lout.
He did know his electrics tho.

We just got our long neglected 8N running and driving. When we needed a battery for it, last month I pulled the 9 year old Optima out of my 50 coupe. Still in there and I might have to steal it back for the car.

Anyone getting only 2 years out of a 6- or 12-volt battery Is doing something WAY, WAY wrong.
We normally get 8 - 10 years across the board.
With a couple of exceptions:
Our Ford F-100 has a battery with 2011.
Our Massey 2005 1540 has the original battery.
The "Calcium" battery is no longer available.
It's no wonder why.

I know this post is ancient, but still a good question.

I'm a swap to 12v and be done kinda guy, but if I had to have a 6V I see Fleetpride has a Group 1 6V Deka for $139. I think Deka/East Penn makes some very good batteries.

I might also look at a 6V golf cart battery, but you would likely have to change to cables with eyelets instead of posts. Also, can you charge a golf cart (deep cycle) battery with a generator? I can't find anything that says you can't.
