I have 53 jubilee neg. grund 6 volt sytem.I want to convert to 12 volt positive ground. My generator don t work and I don t care abuot the charging system right now I. I have no lights or other accessories I just want to start the tractor and go.I will leave a trickle charge on the battery. wht will I have to change other than the battery and the coil?

Of it is 6 volts it should be + ground not - ground. That said if all you want to do is use the 12 volt battery to run it and charge it when parked you can set a 12 volt battery on it change the coil to a 12 volt one and go

Do you mean that it is a positive ground and you want to convert to negative ground?

12 volt system:
1. heavy duty battery with high CCA, measure your tray to know what size will fit
2. ignition switch
3. 12v solenoid
4. 12v ignition coil
5. one wire delco alt to recharge battery

(quoted from post at 18:59:15 03/04/11) I have 53 jubilee neg. grund 6 volt sytem.I want to convert to 12 volt positive ground. My generator don t work and I don t care abuot the charging system right now I. f as you say, all you want to do is run it on a 12v battery without any charging system, using line powered charger when parked, then a true 12v coil & a battery is all you need & you can ground the positive or negative side of battery....just suit yourself. Be fine either way. All the other components will be fine on 6 or 12 of either polarity.

Is it ok to shoot 12 volts into points made for a 6 volt system without a resistor someplace? Or are all points the same. I had a tractor that was coverted to 12 volts be fore I got it and kept burning the points put in a resister and they last longer.

A group 35 12 volt battery fits the box perfectly with posts forward and negative to the out side.(right) Group 25 is the same size with posts toward the rear with negative post to the outside.

The switch and solenoid do not need to be changed because they both work just fine on 6 or 12 volts. I hae many tractors that have the factory switch and solenoid on them and have for years

Points do not make a difference if 6 or 12 volts but the coil and or the lack of a ballast resister does make a difference. With out the correct coil or a ballast resister the point burn up because the resistance in the circuit is not correct
