70 diesel

Is it possible to convert the single lever start control on the 70 to the two lever controls from a 720?

With some difficulty but the single lever system works just fine when properly adjusted. Future value would also be decreased with a hacked up tractor.
Is your the rare one that electric cranks the starting engine by pushing the starting lever ahead?
The single lever system was intended to force the operator to engage the starting when the diesel is de-compressed. Load and wear to the entire starting system is much reduced.

Leave it original. If you want to decompress the diesel at shut down use your big toe rt. foot. Have even tried attaching a lever to the to the rt. side but do not like the cobbled up look. The standard model I use a push stick like a carpenter uses on a table saw. Do what works best for you.

Yup, no starting pedal for the pony. My only concern is the ability to stop the engine by decompression. I'm not worried about decreasing value since its not for sale.

"Stop the engine via decompression" ??? Why not just shut of the fuel injection?

The wife's cousins have a 730. I seen them regularly stopping it via stalling by shifting into 6th gear then jamming the clutch into engagement.
I was younger, blunter and more to the point back then. They looked surprised and rather insulted after being asked a few questions.
Then they looked about stunned with shock and disbelief after seeing the engine shutdown with the throttle instead of stalling or using the decompressor.
As to value? I've seen a lot of folk at estate sales and private sales look disappointed. When I add up the cost of missing parts and deduct the sum from their asking price. The family suddenly seemed annoyed at Grandpa for using the fenders for chicken coop doors etc.

My 70D you have to push starting lever ahead to start pony. I didn't know that was rare. jim
