The tach in my 1170 doesn't work. Neither do the tachs in my dads 970 or 1070. Is it the tach itself or a cable or sensor problem? I would like to get mine going again.
 
could be the cable,tach drive or tach, remove the cable from the tach drive by the starter and see if the tach drive turns, you can also pull on the cable if it comes out that way sure sign it is broke if it won't pull out that way that is normal see if you can turn it by hand and have some one see if the tach needle moves, by the way if you have a broken cable you have to change it from above, I usally replace the complete unit but if the cable housing is good you can just buy the cable itself too cnt
