Looking for insight but I think injector pump is my culprit. Old girl will start but not get above idle no matter where throttle is and after about a minute dies like it ran out of fuel, will restart but each time runs less time. I've blew air back thru fuel line to make sure nothing clogging outlet in tank and have taken out both fuel filters and air filter also replaced last piece of fuel line before the pump to make sure it was not collapsing internally. If I open the vent plenty of fuel runs out of top of filter assembly while its running. Also loosened lines at injectors and all had fuel coming out.
Thanks John K

John,

The odds are very good that the governor
drive ring has or is coming apart and the
pieces have plugged up the housing pressure
regulator (return line connection). The cure
is to disassemble the pump and replace the
ring and all the o rings on the parts that
you remove to get there. Not a bad job ,but
there are a couple of special tools needed.

if it were mine i would un hook the return line out of the top of the pump start the tractor if it runs ok there is a blockage in the return line usally the check valve in the bottom of the tank if not unscrew the fitting in the housing and start it it will run ok, the check valve in the fitting is plugged with monefilliment from the flex ring, a tempory fix is drill out the check valve in pump till you can get the puimp servised any trash in pump will wind up in your fuel filters , we run a 656 about 200 hours with the valve drilled then fixed the pump and put a new fitting back in pump

Continueing to run it with the fitting
drilled out is not a good idea. You lucky
it didn't cut the rivots in the weight
retainer off, when that happens you no longer
have any governor control and it goes to
full fuel with no limit on rpm. IF you are
lucky , the shut off will shut the pump down,
if not , step way behind the tractor cause
the pieces will kill you.
