In the middle of work (baling hay) I lost all hydraulic functions on my 706, steering, brakes, lift arms, PTO. Oil level is fine it seems like the pump fell out of it. Any similar experiences or recommendations will be a starting point. I am mostly on the Ford page and have had good experiences with this web site in general I am looking forward to a reply - Brian

You stripped the center out of the pressure plate. The PTO drive shaft will also be stripped.Did you hear a grinding sound just you lost the hydraulics? Common problem with those IH tractors. A ' clutch job' with replacement of PTO drive gear is required. A split is necessary.

What Delta said and there is a difference between the T/A and non T/A models for that drive gear. the plate /cover the drive gear in in has an o-ring around the outside so be careful you don't break the lip off prying it out. The difference is something to do with the brass bushing on there.
While your in there put a hose on to the throw out bearing. To come below the plate on the bottom. Much easier to grease than having to remove the plate all the time.

If you were baling hay and everything just STOPPED then son ya need a split and a new clutch PPa. new IDPTO shaft bearing seals and o/rings , new pilot bearing and throw out bearing and a flywheel reface . No magic words spoken will fix your problem . for me it would be about a six - seven hour down time . Getting slow in my old age , in days of old it was four and a half to five hours .

No , but the pressure plate drives the IDPTO shaftand this is your problem the splines on the hub of the pressure plate are stripped out and the splines on the shaft are toast . So now you get to put a new main clutch and shaft in it .
