706 Remote For 2250 Loader

Got a 2250 loader today via a forum member, and it is pretty nice.

Here is the problem - My tractor only has one set of remotes. I knew this would be a problem, but I knew there was some sort of workaround.

I am inclined to get an external spool valve, hook the loader up to that and power the spool valve to the tractor hydraulics via the remote outlets under the gas tank. All I have to do then is tie the remote handle back and use the spool valve to control the loader.

My question is - If I leave the tractor's remote handle tied back, is that bad for the hydraulic system? Will it burn up the pump or something?

Finally, I have read about a power beyond attachment that I could use to power the loader. I know these are spendy, but would this be a better solution to my problem?

I am just looking for the best solution to this problem.

Tying back the remote handle won't hurt it,(as long as the loader hoses are plugged in)the loader valve will be the 'bypass' til you operate the loader. Mark

So the hydraulic fluid won't get hot from circulating through the system?

those old IHs are open center hydraulic systems, so when everything is in neutral, the oil is circulating under no or very low pressure and returning to the reservoir.

Make sure the dual-spool valve you get for the loader is OPEN CENTER, and there will be no problems.

You're going to need the dual-spool valve no matter which solution you eventually end up with, whether it's tying the handle back, installing a power beyond plate, or going with a PTO pump.

Get the valve now and hook it up to the existing remote, then decide if you want to get more sophisticated later. Worst case scenario you will have a couple of short pieces of hydraulic hose you can't use.

Can anyone recommend the best valve for this application?

Also does anyone have any pictures of their external valve setup for ideas on mounting the valve and hose routing?

Thanks for all the input.

OK, I got a spool valve from Northern Tool and hoses from my local parts shop.

With a little ingenuity and oily gloves, I got it installed. This loader is great. I have already loaded a bush hog on the trailer, cleaned out the barn of some old cabinets and moved a big rock to the end of the driveway.

It also goes on and off really easily. I made up the hoses just long enough to work. I took the original hoses and made up quick connect ends so I could use them as extensions while mounting and dismounting the loader. It really cleaned things up rather than have long hoses coiled up on the side of the tractor.

I will post tome pictures tonight so you can see how great it looks.

I just need a more elegant way to tie the remote handle back other then some baling wire.
