71 Ford 4500 TLB fluids

Hi fellas, my first post here, so tia.
I have a 71 ford 4500 industrial tlb with the 3 cyl diesel with the 4 speed power reversing trans. After a little research, I think a good 5w-40 or 10w-40 diesel oil will be good for the engine, but what about everything else?
According to the manual recommended fluids are:
Trans: m2c41
hydro: m2c48-a
rear axle: m2c53-b
steering gear: m4864-b
These are all old ford numbers. What is compatible and hopefully an all in one type fluid? I was looking at the traveler universal fluid from tractor supply but wasn't sure if it was any good or for what. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks again. /Dave

Those fluid specs have all been superseded over the years with newer specs. Everything except the steering gear box should take a good UTF that says on the label that it meets or exceeds the Ford/New Holland M2C134D specification. The Traveller Premium UTF does meet that spec. The steering gear should take a good gear oil, 80 or 90 weight, multi-viscosity 85W140 or, if it leaks slightly from that, NLGI Grade 0 grease, which John Deere sells as "Corn Head" grease.

Thanks for the reply! Is there a brand that is recommended? and do I need any friction modifier/additives for the brakes or power rev. trans?

*BTW, sean in pa, i'm in sullivan county. howdy.

The Traveller Premium from TSC should be fine. I use it in the trans, rear end/hydraulics and power steering in my '73 4000 that has the S-O-S transmission that uses similar clutch packs as your power reversing trans uses.

I'm in Montgomery County, about 20 miles east of Reading. My bother-in-law lives up towards you, in Sweet Valley, just west of Scranton and just southeast of Rickets Glen State Park. My other brother-in-law used to have a hunting cabin in Elk Grove.

Thanks for the info. I have some refreshing to do on this old girl but she runs and works well. I'm sure i'll have questions in the future and hopefully be able to contribute.

I'm just outside of Dushore. small world.
