720 clutch bevel washers

JD 720 clutch adjusting bolts had no Bellville washers under adjusting nuts when it rolled off JD assembly line. Someone probably added the washers due to wear in clutch operating sleeve, toggles & dogs in lieu of replacing worn out parts. https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/12496/referrer/search/pgId/1769486
They are used now to try and make clutches less snatchy. They are basically a spring, so presumably just preload the disks up slightly which helps with engagement. Can’t do any harm.

I completly overhaul all my two-cylinder clutches with new pins, bolts, toggles, dogs and whatever else is needed. And I always use Bellville washers after. The clutches are always less grabby and a lot smoother with them installed. john
