Driving tractor around and transmission seemed fine, does not make any noise. When cold has a hard time going into first gear.Parked tractor, put in neutral, left running, clutch engaged.Went to drive again, put in gear on low side tractor would not move.Tried all gears on low side does not move.Shifter will not go all the way down to slide in to high side.Feels and hears like shifter slides the forks in all gears on low side of transmission.Clutch pulley turns when clutch is engaged. What happened?I just bought the tractor about 3 weeks ago.

I should have said the gear shifter will not go go down far enough to slide over into 5,6,3 gear.Tractor feels like it goes into 1,2,4,R but does not move when in gear.

More than likely the shifter slipped out of groove in fork. With engine running and clutch lever moved slightly forward-to keep pressure off- try to put shifter back into the last gear used. Once you get it back should be okay as long as you are careful shifting---DO NOT force shifter in or out of a gear, release some pressure on clutch when shifting. I had a 60 with that problem. My opinion.

Take shifter cover off aline shifter in neutral put gear shifter back on,it has came out . never force shifter stick and never pull up on it when shiftin.have patience

The shifiter has come out of the rail, try turning the shifter as you try to put it back in the last gear you were in.If this works the shifter could be bent.

Sliding the shifter down and Across to either side, IS the motion that shifts the "Hi-LO"..there just is only one lever that accomplishes Both..

My AR does this some times when on the high side. To get it right again I can usually put it in 6th and she will move. THen i can slowly take it out of 6 and she will then go to the low side and all gears work. Im not sure if the shift pattern on an AR is the same as a 720....

You may have a broken or weak shifter handle spring. If you pull the shifter handle up and detect any upward travel, the spring is not holding the shifter handle ball up into the fulcrum socket. When the shifter handle is allowed to drop out of the fulcrum socket, any shifter movement of the rails will be reduced, and it is possible for the shifter handle to move the last gear selection only partially into or out of gear. It is also possible for the shifter handle to come totally out of engagement with the shifter rails, at which time the detent balls and springs may complete the shift. With the handle then blocked from entering any gate, the tractor cannot be shifted until the cover is removed and the spring is replaced. It is also possible for the transmission to be locked in two gears at the same time, with the detent balls and interlock pin resisting any movement. It is then necessary to use a suitable pry bar to move the rails back to neutral.
