Good morning, I'm replacing the reel cam on my 720 mower/conditioner due to reel bar/tooth bar breaking and "tearing out" the side of the original cam. While disassembling I noticed a lot of side-to-side play of the reel frame, and 8 of the 9 washers required on the right side outside of the bearing housing in between housing and the pulley. Is there a specific amount of side-to-side movement that is required or can I stiffen this up a bit. Not sure if this is the reason for the final blow on the cam and bars but believe it did not help.
On another note, on the reel frame, the right splined shaft is fixed to the frame, while the other has the ability to move in and out of the frame, I'm assuming this is correct to allow for install/removal of the frame from the mower. Can anyone confirm this by chance?
Thank you everyone for the help so far!
