720 puller ???

Any one built ( STROKED AND BORED ) 720? Wondering what kind of HP you could get with a good long stroke and big bore? Whould they be close with a stroked G or a long way's back? And how light could you get it, would 6000 be possible? GUST WANTING SOMETHING DIFFRENT THAT EVERYONE AROUND HERE DOES'NT HAVE!!

Gas, Lp or Diesel ? Gas is the lighter of the 3 My Lp weighs 7560 with driver and 3 point. I would Say if you loose the cast wheels it could get down to 6900-7000. Then flatback it, loose power steering and a single front wheel might put you at 6400-6500. My guesstimations on the weight of things might be off but I do not think you can make 6000 with out loosing the big heavy rad, and smaller fuel tank. Please keep us updated on if you do this project Thank You!

Thank's for the reply! I would do it in a heart beet if I thought I could get close to 6000 building it is not a problem just don't won't something that I can't get down to atlest 6000 lbs!!

My friend has a 720 diesel no pony or cast wheels. Has power steering and factory rear cover without rockshaft also fenders. He pulls 7000 and can add about 200 lbs he is also a bigger guy so that can make a difference too. We just added a factory G styled flat back and we are thinking 6500 no problem. That's on 16.9-38 tires. A guy could also put on a lighter front end and also i supose you can change to a lighter radiator.

i been looking at thingsfor my a to make it lighter for instance cast centers weigh 660 pounds roughly pressed steel weighs 150 power trol back roughly 250 flat back aroud 75 you can lose roughly 100 pounds going from a rollomatic to a stiff front end im assuming a 720 can use most of the same parts a g or 70 uses around here a stock g with cast centers and power trol starts pulling at 6000 just going to take you some time looking into what each component weighs take what your tractor weighs then subtract what youve theroreticly taken off

My tractor is a gas,Im not sure what they weigh but willing to take everything not needed to make it, the lift housing look's to be alot heaver than A's and G's proubley a good 250 to 350 I would think maybe moor but could be wrong

Look up the "Full Stroke" JD pulling tractors on YourTube...!!

They stand Flame and don't "labor" at all..!!

Beautiful tractors too..!

I have no idea what is done to them but I assure you they are not "Stock"..!!

i agree there rochshaft should be heavier i think you can do it without losing rad and all that id do it if i were you

I pull a 57 720D Pony and it comes in at 7500 with me on it. It is hard to get her in that class sometimes and sometimes I should just stay up in the heavier classes. It is hard to get footing. I run 16.9 38 radials, around 10 psi, rack is turned up, governor up just a little and no air cleaner. It pull better with weight. Will never stall in 2nd, and usually spins out, even in 15500. Keep the weight on and run with the big guys, you will turn heads, I sure do!

I can't see that someone is being truthful here. 10 psi on radials at 15500 would not pull well either, they are soft tires. and 8000 extra lbs. hmm.

I know of two in Texas both are 730's Gas.. one is very mild tractor probably in the mild 400's.. the other is a little over 600cid.. I don't remember the weight of either.. don't know if you could get it to 6K..

I've seen 730s over 15K.. most were diesel.. weights stacked everywhere.. I think the heaviest we ever had our 70D standard was about 13k.. (it weight over 9K with out adding weights.. tires full of water.)
