720 tractor

I farmed with 720's way back when, the answer depends if youre in heavy clay like I was or lighter sandy soils. In heavy clay I did better with a 3 x 16 plow and a 10 ft disk or a 12 if I ran duals, although in lighter soil one could run a 4 x 14 and a 12 ft disk. It also depends on how deep you plow but I found if I pulled one less bottom I could run in a higher gear where the dirt fell over faster and broke up better then if I was crawling along.

Fer sure the answer would be in the close vicinity of 3 x 16 or 4 x 14 and 10 or 12 on the disk, but a 12 worked best runnin duals.

The 720 D is so fuel efficient that you don't want to overload it anyway..and, it is HARD to tell when it is working at full capacity or not, as they WILL BULL their way thru tough spots..about the only way to tell is if they start smoking..!!
Neighbors had a pair of 720 D and they pulled 5x14"
I use 4x16 and run in 3rd, 2nd if I am in Jack-Wax and that is TOUGH going in anyone's book..!!
Duals are the way to go with the disc..you will have almost NO wheel slippage, where without the Duals, wheel slippage is probably approaching 25% in loose soil... You won't leave compacted soil trails behind you with duals either...!

It really depends on what the soil is and how it was used. My 720D will only pull a 2x16 plow on my buddies grazing field of cane. Soil is hard and will keep the front dancing up.

I have light silt loam soil and I pull a 4 X 16 plow, and a 13 ft JD BW disk in 4th gear. The 720D is my main tractor. 8)
