727 Torqueflite Dipstick length

I have a 1955 Dodge C1 that has had a 1971 727-Torqueflite (small block 340 engine) installed. The trans dipstick is 18 1/4 inches, but the tube is 22 inches, so one of them is incorrect. Does anyone know the correct length of the tube and the dipstick? If the dipstick is correct, I can cut down the tube if I know the correct length from the top of the tranmission. Thanks.

Not sure if this will help but I have a 76 d100 318 engine with the 727 trans. From the tip to top of handle 21-3/4" also from tip to 1st bump where cap is about 18"

I have three tubes & sticks for 727 trans. The stick extends about 1/2" beyond end of tube on all three. You should be able to fix her now.
