My grandson has his other granddads 730 case tractor,it has been sitting for 4 or 5 years we got it running this spring and everything running great. He got thru 1st hay cutting all good.was cutting hay yesterday went to back up and gear shifter stuck in neutral. you can move shifter side to side but won't go into any gear.We started taking top off trans,we took gear shift out and it looked ok . I couldn't see down inside trans. I'm thinking that one of the shift forks might be hung or not centered.I've had that happen on my fords, I'm not familiar with case tractors does anyone have any thoughts or advice we would appreciate all help.
Thanks joe c

Have a 730 had problems at one time when coming out reverse when trans was hot. As I recall the reverse shift rail would travel to far and lever would come out of notch put back in with screwdriver after pulling floorboard and shift tower. Would that be what happened to you? Sometimes we went back to reverse and caught the notch.
Eventually was at dealer for repair, had them pull trans cover and there was a sleeve kit put over the reverse rail preventing the over travel. Tom
