730 D electric start electrical problems

Yeah that would be alright if you could. I just put a make shift to see if that fixed everything but only thing that doesn’t work is the Gen light. The light itself works if you touch it to the dash but put it in and nothing when I turn the switch on.

Take a look at how the charge indicator lamp is connected.

Resistor "E" MUST be present on the combination switch, it drops the 24 Volts involved in the generator circuit to 12 Volts to allow the use of a common 12 Volt indicator lamp. It should measure in the 50 to 60 Ohms range, IIRC.
 
Is it just a coiled wire resistor? If it is it’s not on it.
On your 4-headlight 730 I believe the generator light resistor will look like what the arrow is pointing to in the photo below.

With the batteries and the GEN light disconnected try measuring the resistance between the brass parts above and below the black part.
