Looked at this old 730 Diesel out behind a guys shed. Been sitting for about 10 years he said. He wanted rid of it as he didn't need it any longer. He is about 75 and said his Dad bought it new. They put the old Farmhand stacker on it when it was new, so they took off the Eagle Hitch, PTO, and Drawbar back then and stored them in the shed.

He wouldn't let me have it unless we pulled it to see if it ran. Oil looked good, added about 2 quarts of anti freeze, and gave it a tug. Started in about 30 yards and would have started sooner if he would have went just a touch faster. Good oil pressure.

Went to the barn and dug out the Eagle Hitch parts and they indeed looked brand new. Can't wait to get it home and see what I have. Bob

Good score! I have a hi-profile 730 diesel that I bought for $150 at auction...no heads or manifolds. Plus when I got the engine running it needed trans. work...but it is a very handy tractor.

10 years !! Wow I thought diesel fuel would be unusable and the injection pump would be froze. You are very lucky.

diesel is not like gas. i have used 20 and 30 year old fuel. infact i think that old stuff is even better than this present diesel. this last 660 had 20 year old fuel in it and i burnt it out. even started on its own power.

Did you stop and buy a lottery ticket on your way home? You might not be that lucky ever again. 😁

Very nice, and thats the way to get them. Makes a fella feel good knowing that the old tractor he had sitting, and had no use for, will go into the hands of someone that will restore it, rather than breaking it down for parts and scrap
